 This past weekend was the beginning of one of our teacher training courses with BASI Pilates called the Pro-bridge.  This course is designed for certified and experienced Pilates teachers who are interested in learning the BASI philosophy of teaching.

Amongst many special moments over the weekend, one that stands out is the time I spent with my teaching team.  To be together for 3 days in conversation and exploration of what we all love to do was enriching and uplifting.  I acknowledge Anne, Jodi, Patricia, Audrey and Michele for their commitment to bring their best to this work and for being open to learning and growing.

Every time I do a course like this, my passion and commitment to Pilates, the TWC Studio, and our clients, deepens to a level that I didn't even know was possible.  If I were to start over again, I would do exactly this.

Joseph Pilates titled his book Return to Life.  His system is designed to bring people back to living the life they see for themselves free from pain and restriction.  Through the exercises, you learn how to move efficiently, developing the stamina, strength and balance such that your daily activities can be completed with ease, leaving ample energy for you to do anything of your choosing.

Consider the impact of these words to your life...Pilates will return you to the life you see for yourself.  Look at where you are now in your life, where you want to be, and how Pilates can fill in the gap such that you aren't dreaming of a certain kind of life, you ARE living it.  For those of you reading this who practice Pilates look to where you were when you began Pilates and where you are now.  It is remarkable the progress I see in all of my clients.

I chose the name Tsawwassen Wellness Centre - Pilates & Health because the Pilates philosophy is about your health.  Health encompasses your physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing.  Movement is part of being healthy.  When you change the way you move, you change your mind and when you change your mind, you change your spirit.   

This is true for all humans regardless of age, race, health or sex.  Clients who are living with a diagnosis (ALS, Cancer, MS, Parkinsons, fibromyalgia for example) can all find strength and power in this work to support them living a great life.

Pilates is a form of physical and mental conditioning.  With each movement, you are moving and thinking all the time.  You are being with your whole body, breathing into every cell in your body and exploring the potential of your body.

My intention and deep rooted passion with this work is that all of us live actively and with joy for our entire life.  Many of our clients are well into their late seventies and early eighties.  The very fact that they complete an hour of movement, get up off the floor and say "see you next week", is all I need to be energized.  What more could I ever want from this work?
