Joan Littlejohn

My story
I have a framed picture on my wall of a little red headed girl wearing a tutu doing an impressive arabesque. I drew it when I was five and recently rediscovered it while going through old photos and memorabilia. While I didn’t come close to finding a career as a ballet dancer, I spent many years in the dance world (contemporary) achieving a Minor in dance and a Degree in PE and Recreation. I am still involved in the dance community and sit on the board for a local dance company.
Despite some enlightening starts in other areas I believe my life plan was somehow connected to creativity and movement. Like many of my peers, I started teaching “aerobics” when I was 16 with minimal training but lots of enthusiasm! After extensive training I continued on my journey in the fitness industry teaching, presenting, opening fitness clubs and teaching courses to certify fitness, aqua and personal trainers. During that time I competed in body building and competitive aerobics and triathlons. Pursuits that were, in hindsight, poor choices for the longevity of my joints. I am currently waiting for a new knee but am working hard to hang on to the one I have – I am kind of attached to it and will hate to see it go!
I found a calling for Pilates in the 80’s after giving up my legwarmers and pursued training and teaching in a variety of schools of Pilates. Having been exposed to the classical approach to Pilates and respectful of the principles, I chose to add education and training that I found to be more user friendly and functionally useful to my participants. I believe our evolving lifestyles of sitting too much, computers and lack of exercise requires a more broadened approach to Pilates training. Incorporating my expertise in Yoga Therapy and a variety of other disciplines ensures my clients are offered a well-rounded and unique movement and flexibility experience.

Danielle Braund

My love of movement began at a young age with dance, gymnastics and running. I continued to experiment with movement, entering and placing in a BCABBA Fitness competition, and studying Muay Thai kickboxing in Thailand.
As a teenager, I discovered Pilates and was hooked. Growing up in southern Alberta, this meant a 2-hour drive to the nearest studio. I have repeatedly come back to Pilates throughout my life, learning different styles and every time finding new benefits.
My other love is creativity, I have pursued acting, writing and music earning a BFA and working as as a touring musician. I am currently writing and working with M&J productions on several new film projects.
My years of teaching music transfers to Pilates as they both require focus, keen eye/ear for detail, encouragement, and understanding of proper body alignment.
I am excited to share my love of Pilates and pass on the countless benefits.

Linda Mallard

For something to captivate me for almost 50 years, it must be interesting. To me, the human body is fascinating, and how the mind and body work as an integral whole, intriguing.
At the age of 12, I began teaching gymnastics. I continued throughout school and my university years teaching all levels of gymnastics. What interested me most was the art of teaching another such that they became empowered, excited and fascinated with what their body could do. Whether it was a preschool aged child, a competitive athlete, a special needs teenager or someone just curious, I fell in love with what movement brought to the lives of anyone with whom I worked.
I entered the fitness realm in the 80’s where I worked in corporate health, facility management, teacher training and personal training. I loved working with all levels of ability from rehabilitation to athletes and everything in between. It was simply the joy of moving. Looking at a body and finding ways to help the body move better, feel better.
Today I am most passionate about guiding clients to live their best life. Whether it is rehabilitating from an injury or pain, maintaining their sport or activity, staying active throughout the aging process or reducing experiences of stress and anxiety, I am here to guide, coach and support each and every client to have the health and strength to do whatever they choose in their life.
A life long student, I continually take courses, study and research on a daily basis. I am dedicated to my own Pilates practice and am a student of the work with BASI Pilates.
My vision with the Tsawwassen Wellness Centre was to create a community of support, friendship and fun. And together with my team we have done just that. Small group classes gives you the attention you need to see results, the intimacy to get to know your classmates and a beautiful environment to enjoy right in Tsawwassen Springs.

Brenda Straker

STOTT Certified Instructor; BCRPA Personal Trainer & Third Age Instructor.


Brenda has many years of experience in the fitness industry both as a Group Fitness Leader and Personal Trainer and is BCRPA Third Age certified. Her passion for health and wellness caused her to pursue a career in teaching Pilates. She received her training and certification through STOTT Pilates®, Vancouver, in Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels. Brenda has also completed the Advanced Education Certificate Course in Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies through BASI Pilates®.

When she is not teaching, Brenda enjoys spending time with her family and her very active granddaughters. “As the years go by, I have personally realized the benefits of a physically active lifestyle; let me help you reap the same rewards and benefits”.

Anne Johnson

STOTT Pilates Systems Comprehensive Certified Instructor

I am a STOTT certified Pilates Instructor, BCRPA Certified Supervisor of Fitness Leaders, Certified Trigger Point Bodyworker BASI Pilates Injury and Pathologies Certification, Certified Yoga Instructor.
I have been actively studying health and fitness for more than 25 years and teaching Pilates for 16 years.

I have drawn from my knowledge of anatomy, movement and fitness skills to provide Pilates programs to suit any age or level of ability. I also teach a diverse clientele ranging from athletes (runners, tennis players, golfers, equestrians, soccer players etc) to clients who have post rehab injuries, physical limitations or movement dysfunctions.

My passion for Pilates is demonstrated though an encouraging teaching style, a keen eye for movement and attention to detail. These qualities help my clients improve their body awareness and alignment and get better and stronger! I am dedicated to personalizing Pilates programs to help each client reach their full potential in the studio and carry those skills over to everyday activities and sports.
